Initially employed as a sanitary officer in Maribor, he completed his surgical specialization in Zagreb in 1940. During World War II, he was displaced to Austria, living in locations such as Klagenfurt and Wolfsberg. After the war, he returned to Maribor, where he worked as a surgeon at the General Hospital, organizing the trauma department.
