Marten Roelof de Jong was a Dutch politician from the PvdA party. Born on February 18, 1934, in Haren, Groningen, he initially worked as an economics teacher at various high schools until 1986. He served in the municipal council of Haren for four years before becoming an alderman for ten years starting in 1978. In October 1988, he took on the role of acting mayor of Loppersum, remaining until a municipal reorganization in 1990. De Jong passed away on January 14, 2021, at the age of 86.
