Martin van Rijn is a Dutch politician from the PvdA and a civil servant, born on February 7, 1956, in Rotterdam. He served as State Secretary for Health, Welfare, and Sport in the Rutte II cabinet from November 5, 2012, to October 26, 2017. On March 23, 2020, he became the Minister for Medical Care in the Rutte III cabinet, following the resignation of Bruno Bruins for health reasons. Van Rijn resigned from this position on July 9, 2020, and was succeeded by Tamara van Ark from the VVD.
