Martin Verdonk is a Dutch jazz percussionist born on April 5, 1959, in Curaçao, Netherlands Antilles. He moved to the Netherlands in 1971 and studied Latin American percussion at the Rotterdam Conservatory and further at Conjunto Folklorico Nacional de Cuba. Verdonk toured Europe with the band Congarilla, worked with Prince and various notable artists across genres, and has led his own percussion group since 1995. He also teaches world music at the Rotterdam Conservatory and has been recognized as drummer of the year by Slagwerkkrant.
