Martino Aichner was an Italian pilot and lawyer born on March 12, 1918, in Trento and died on December 21, 1994, in Verona. He served as an officer in the Italian Air Force during World War II and was part of the torpedo bomber squadron. In June 1942, he sank the British destroyer HMS Bedouin while in his Savoia-Marchetti SM.79, earning a high military honor for this action. After the war, he received the Medaglia d’oro al Valore Militare and wrote about his experiences in the book Il Gruppo Buscaglia.
