Mathews Mar Severios, born on February 12, 1949, is the current Catholicos of the East and Metropolitan of the Malankara Church. He was installed as the 22nd Metropolitan of Malankara and the 9th Catholicos of the Malankara Church on October 15, 2021, at St. Peter and St. Paul Church, Parumala, succeeding Baselius Marthoma Paulose II. He leads the Western Diocese of Kandanad and the Central Diocese of Kottayam within the Malankara Syrian Orthodox Church.
