Matías Augé i Benet is a Catalan clergyman of the Claretian Order, born on May 27, 1936, in Perafort, Tarragona. He joined the Claretian Order in 1953 and was ordained a priest in 1961. He has a degree in Theology and a doctorate in Liturgy from prestigious institutions in Rome. Recognized as one of the most important liturgists post-Vatican II, he received the VIII Memorial Pere Tena Prize for Liturgical Pastoral in 2022 and served in various significant roles within the church, including as an emeritus president of a theological institute and a consultant for liturgical matters.
