Edmonds served two tours in Vietnam, commanding in significant operations including the capture of a major enemy cache in Cambodia as a Lieutenant Colonel. He is decorated with multiple awards for valor, including the Silver Star and the Bronze Star. Later in his career, he served as Deputy Chief of Staff for Training at TRADOC and Commanding General of Fort Benjamin Harrison.
