Max Bignens was a Swiss stage designer and costume designer born on June 9, 1912, in Zurich, and he passed away on December 24, 2001, in the same city. He studied under Emil Preetorius in Munich and started his career at the Bern municipal theater in 1939. His notable works include designs for the first performance of 'Landrinette' by Ralph Benatzky. Bignens later worked at the Basel theatre, the Bavarian State Theatre in Munich, and from 1970, he served as the chief designer at the Cologne stages. He collaborated internationally with various directors.
