Mehmed Handžić was a Bosnian scholar and literary figure born in 1906 in Sarajevo. He completed his primary and secondary education there before studying at Al-Azhar University in Egypt, where he graduated in 1931. Upon returning to Sarajevo, he became a teacher at the Gazi Husrev-beg School and managed its library from 1937. Handžić was also a lecturer at the Islamic Faculty, teaching Tafsir and Usul al-Fiqh. He founded the 'Hidaya' scholars' association, which supported Muslim youth during the communist regime. He passed away in 1944 at the age of 38.
