Michèle Haumont was a Belgian biologist who contributed significantly to the field of vaccination. Born on February 10, 1953, she worked at the Université libre de Bruxelles and is best known for developing, with Professor Alex Bollen, an effective vaccine against toxoplasmosis, a serious condition during pregnancy. Prior to this, no human vaccine existed for the disease. Throughout her career, she also studied vaccines for cytomegalovirus, varicella-zoster virus, and Epstein-Barr virus.
