Mikhail Arkadyevich Ostrovsky is a Soviet and Russian physiologist born on February 22, 1935, in Leningrad. He is a specialist in the physiology and pathophysiology of vision. Ostrovsky became a full member of the Russian Academy of Sciences in 1994 and was a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR since 1990. He holds a Doctor of Biological Sciences degree and was designated as an honorary professor at Moscow State University in 1999. He is one of the contributors to the scientific field of molecular physiology of vision.
