Milan Šamánek was a Czech physician, specializing in pediatrics and cardiology. He served as the head of the Pediatric Cardiac Center at 2nd Faculty of Medicine, Charles University and Hospital Na Bulovce from 1977 to 1993. Additionally, he was the vice-dean of the Faculty of Pediatric Medicine at Charles University from 1969 to 1971. He received the state award Medal of Merit, First Class from the Czech president in 2010 and was honored with the Neuron Prize for his contributions to world science in medicine in 2016.
