Miran Špelič is a Slovenian Franciscan, theologian, philologist, translator, and educator, born on February 22, 1963, in Ljubljana. He became a professor of Latin and French in 1986 and graduated in theology in 1990. He was ordained as a priest in 1992 and completed his doctorate in patrology in 2002 with a thesis on poverty in the sayings of the fathers. He teaches at the Theological Faculty in Ljubljana and is also the head of the Institute for Patristic Studies Victorinianum and assistant editor of a theological journal.
