Mohamed Tahar Fergani was an Algerian singer, composer, and musician born on May 9, 1928, in Constantine and passed away on December 7, 2016, in Paris. He was known as the Sultan of the Constantine Malouf and is considered the leader of Andalusian music styles known as Malouf. His son, Slim Fergani, is seen as his successor in terms of preservation of this genre, though Fergani acknowledged the artistic abilities of Jamal Ben Smar, the conductor of the Andalusian musical group.
