Mongol was a Brazilian musician, singer, and composer who began his artistic career in the 1970s in Rio de Janeiro's alternative circuit. He gained recognition after winning the MPB 80 festival with his song 'Agonia' performed by Oswaldo Montenegro. He collaborated on numerous songs and founded the group Akundum in 1998, which achieved commercial success with 'Emaconhada'. Mongol also recorded with the Jamaican reggae band Inner Circle. He passed away on May 11, 2021, due to complications from Covid-19.
