He studied in his hometown and in Tartus, eventually receiving his high school diploma. He then joined the military academy in Damascus, graduating as an officer and rising to the rank of colonel before retiring. Later, he earned a law degree and practiced as a lawyer. Salih is known for his several story collections, translations, and poetry volumes.
