Murdo Macfarlane (15 February 1901—7 November 1982), known as Bàrd Mhealboist, was a Scottish poet and songwriter advocating for the Gaelic language. Born in Melbost, Isle of Lewis, he worked on various schemes and later moved to North America before returning to Scotland. A campaigner against Stornoway Airport's NATO expansion, he contributed greatly to the Gaelic movement in the 1970s through his works, including songs like 'Cànan nan Gàidheal'. His life inspired a documentary that won an award in 2001.
