Myrtle Elizabeth Kitchell "Kitch" Aydelotte was a pioneering American nurse, professor, and hospital administrator. Born on May 31, 1917, she made significant contributions to nursing education and leadership. Aydelotte served as CEO of the American Nurses Association and as the director of nursing at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. She was the first dean of the nursing program at Iowa and the first female academic dean there. Recognized for her leadership, she became a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing in 1976 and a Living Legend in 1994.
