Naim Şafak Tirali was a Turkish writer, journalist, and politician born on December 25, 1925, in Giresun. He began writing short stories during his high school years, published his first story in 1943, and his first book in 1948. Tirali founded the Karadeniz Postası newspaper in 1946 and later owned Vatan newspaper from 1962 to 1975. He was imprisoned for 16 months due to a controversial article and served as a member of the Turkish Parliament from CHP. In the 1980s, he returned to short story writing, and he received the 1997 Burhan Felek Award for journalism.
