Nayif Abu Ubayd was a prominent Jordanian poet born on April 15, 1935, in the town of Al-Husn, Irbid. He studied at the University of Beirut Arab, obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Arts in 1972. He worked in cultural radio programming at Jordanian Radio until 1977, where he later became the head of the cultural department and also chaired the lyrics committee until 1984. He was awarded the Independence Medal of the Second Class for his poetic excellence and published ten poetry collections in both Modern Standard Arabic and Jordanian dialect.
