Nedim Gürsel is a Turkish author born on April 5, 1951, in Gaziantep. In the late 1960s, he began publishing stories and articles in Turkish magazines. After graduating from high school in 1970, he studied at the Sorbonne, obtaining a degree in modern French literature in 1974 and a PhD in comparative literature in 1979. He returned to Turkey but left again due to political unrest in 1980. His collection of stories, 'A Summer Without End,' won the prestigious Turkish Language Academy Award in 1977. He is now a French citizen and teaches contemporary Turkish literature at the Sorbonne.
