He graduated from Chalmers Technical Institute in 1935 and later studied at the Royal Institute of Technology. Kållberg held various positions such as city engineer and building chief in different municipalities including Vaxholm, Falkenberg, and Filipstad. He became a captain in the Road and Water Construction Corps in 1947.
