Olav L. Hannisdal was a Norwegian author and former editor, teacher, principal, and local politician for the Christian Democratic Party (KrF). He was a co-founder and long-time editor of the newspaper Strilen. Hannisdal served in local government and was actively involved in various organizations. He wrote three novels and several non-fiction books, debuting with 'Sand i eit timeglas' in 1978. In recognition of his contributions, he received the King's Medal of Merit in Silver in 2005.
