Born on March 18, 1949, in Sintu, Belgian Congo, he served as a priest in the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising and was the pastor in Zorneding, Bavaria, until he resigned in March 2016 due to death threats. Currently, he conducts research at the Center for Refuge and Migration at the University of Eichstätt.
