Oliviero Toscani is an Italian photographer and art director, best known for his controversial advertising campaigns for the fashion label Benetton from 1982 to 2000. He has also developed corporate identities for other brands like Fiorucci and Esprit, and designed visual communications for B & B Italia. Toscani took a break from working with Benetton in 2000 after a campaign featuring death row inmates raised significant controversy. He is a political activist and strong opponent of the death penalty. Toscani resumed work with Benetton in 2007.
