Orson G. Swindle III, born on March 8, 1937, is a retired U.S. Marine Corps officer and a decorated Vietnam War prisoner of war. He served as the Commissioner of the Federal Trade Commission from December 18, 1997, to June 30, 2005, and was the Assistant Secretary of Commerce during the Reagan Administration. Swindle was also a candidate for Congress in Hawaii and served over twenty years as a Naval Aviator, retiring at the rank of lieutenant colonel.
