Osamu Ashitomi is a Japanese politician associated with the Liberal Democratic Party. He was born on February 20, 1956, in Futenma, Okinawa. A graduate of Asia University, he served three terms in the Ginowan city assembly before being elected to the Okinawa Prefecture assembly in 1996. After four terms in the prefecture assembly, he entered the House of Representatives in 2005. Although he ran for the mayor of Ginowan in 2003, he was unsuccessful in that endeavor.
