Owsley Stanley, also known as 'Bear', was an influential American sound engineer and drug producer born on January 19, 1935, in Kentucky. He is best known for his work with the Grateful Dead, where his innovative approaches to sound engineering significantly shaped the band's live performances. In addition to his contributions to music, Stanley became famous for manufacturing high-quality LSD in the 1960s, which earned him a prominent place in the counterculture of that era. He passed away on March 12, 2011, in Queensland, Australia.
