Peep Algvere was an Estonian ophthalmologist and medical scientist in Sweden. Born on April 15, 1935, in Narva, he moved to Sweden with his father in 1944. He studied at Södra Latin and Stockholm University, later earning his medical doctorate at Karolinska Institute in 1968. He worked at Karolinska Hospital and completed further training at the Boston Biomedical Institute. A professor and head of the eye clinic at Linköping University from 1997, he contributed to ophthalmic surgery, invented diagnostic devices, and published over 150 scientific papers.
