Peng Xiuwen (1931-1996) was a Chinese choir leader and composer from Wuhan, Hebei. He was an excellent professor of Chinese folk music and the first choir leader of the Chinese Popular Radio music troupe. He was also one of the founders of the Chinese Central Radio string and wind orchestra. From a young age, he studied traditional Chinese instruments, such as the erhu and pipa, and graduated in 1949 from the School of Trade, beginning his career at Chongqing People's Radio in 1950.
