Per Solemdal (February 8, 1941 - April 4, 2016) was a notable Norwegian marine researcher based in Bergen. He worked at the Institute of Marine Research for 43 years, focusing primarily on the reproductive biology of flounder in the Baltic Sea. His pioneering studies examined the effects of seawater salinity on the eggs and milt of these fish. In recognition of his contributions to marine science, a flatfish species in the Baltic was named Platichthys solemdali in his honor.
