Peter Amos Siwo was a pioneering civil servant and one of the first black graduates in Northern Rhodesia. He became the first black graduate to work at Luansha Mines and served as the first chairman of Zambia Airways. After independence, he held significant roles in the Ministry of Power, Transport Works and Communications. He was involved in education reforms in Zambia, chairing various important committees and meetings. Siwo furthered his education at Columbia University and Oxford University, and he was married to Sheila Gibson McHarrie.
