Peter Freund is a German writer, screenwriter, and film producer born on February 17, 1952. He studied journalism, political science, and sociology before working as a freelance journalist. He served as director of several cinemas in Berlin and became a film distributor. Since 1993, he has been writing and producing for Phoenix Film. Freund is known for his young adult novels about Laura Leander, a girl who discovers her magical powers and battles evil. The series was initially planned for five books, but he added a sixth in 2007 due to reader demand. He resides in Berlin.
