Peter Sie, born Sie Tiam Ie on December 28, 1929, was a prominent Indonesian fashion designer. He developed an interest in sewing during childhood and studied tailoring in the Netherlands from 1947 to 1953. After returning to Indonesia, he began his career as a tailor, initially serving Chinese women in his neighborhood in Jakarta. Over the years, he gained recognition for his designs and is considered a pioneer of Indonesian fashion. Although he stepped away from the fashion scene in the late 1980s, he returned in 2001 for a retrospective exhibition of his work and published his autobiography.
