Philippe Burrin is a Swiss historian born on March 16, 1952, in Chamoson, Canton of Valais. He has been teaching the history of international relations and contemporary history at the University of Geneva since 1988. Since 2004, he has served as the director of the Graduate Institute of International Studies and Development. He contributed an essay on the Vichy regime for Pierre Nora’s work, 'Lieux de mémoire.' In 1997, he was awarded the Max Planck Research Prize. Burrin was the president of the International Meetings of Geneva from 2008 to 2014.
