Vladimir Alexandrovich Mikhaylov (1901—1955) was a Ukrainian Soviet astronomer who served as the acting director of the Kharkiv Observatory during the German occupation, making significant contributions to the preservation of the observatory during the war. Born in Kharkiv, he began collaborating with the observatory in his student years. He was appointed acting director shortly before the Nazi invasion, successfully hiding equipment from potential destruction. After World War II, he continued his work in astronomy and education, ultimately passing away from liver cancer in 1955.
