Sheikh Ahmed El-Rizqy (February 18, 1938 - December 8, 2005) was a renowned Egyptian Quran reciter born in Riziyat village, Qena, Egypt. Inspired by the beautiful voice of Sheikh Abdel Basit Abdel Samad, he left school to memorize the Quran. He completed his Quran memorization in three years and studied recitations. From 1974, he became a famous Quran reader on Egyptian radio. He was a prominent advocate for establishing a readers' union and served as its secretary-general until his death. He was honored with several awards, including the first-class Order of the Republic in 1990.
