Vazgen Mikayeli Oganesov (Hovhannisyan) was an Armenian-Soviet military officer and a Hero of the Soviet Union, born on February 20, 1920, in Horom, Armenia. He completed 324 combat flights and participated in over 67 aerial battles during World War II, destroying 23 enemy aircraft. He was awarded the Hero title for his bravery during the capture of Berlin. After the war, he served in Soviet forces stationed in Germany and held the position of deputy commander before being discharged in 1949. He was awarded multiple honors, including the Lenin and Order of the Red Banner medals.
