Boris Sergeyevich Mitropolsky was a Soviet geologist born on May 15, 1905, in Saint Petersburg. He discovered over 30 new mineral deposits and authored more than 100 scientific works. He was a candidate of geological and mineralogical sciences and a senior researcher. Mitropolsky was known for his expertise in non-ferrous and rare metal deposits in Altai, publishing a significant monograph in 1931. His contributions included geochemistry of super-rare metals, and he received awards for mobilizing resource during World War II.
