Ruben Ashoti Shek-Hovsepian was a prominent figure in the field of aviation computing systems. Born on March 17, 1930, in Leningrad (then part of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic within the USSR), he gained recognition as a scientist and aviation engineer. He earned his Doctorate in Technical Sciences in 1992 and became a Professor in 1993. Shek-Hovsepian was also honored as an Honored Aviation Builder of the USSR in 1990. He passed away on November 18, 2012.
