Born on March 17, 1930, in Leningrad (then part of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic within the USSR), he gained recognition as a scientist and aviation engineer. He earned his Doctorate in Technical Sciences in 1992 and became a Professor in 1993. Shek-Hovsepian was also honored as an Honored Aviation Builder of the USSR in 1990. He passed away on November 18, 2012.
