Vartan Salahkhanian was an Armenian-Iranian consul and a member of the Tudeh Party. Born on January 25, 1931, in Tabriz, he moved to Tehran with his family where he worked as a bus driver after being unemployed. He joined the Tudeh Party in 1952 and continued clandestine activities following the 1953 coup in Iran. Salahkhanian was arrested by security forces and tortured for six days, ultimately leading to his death on May 7, 1954, due to severe torture. His body was later disposed of in a river to conceal the circumstances of his death.
