Viktor Markovich Dmitriev is a Russian scientist specializing in the safety of nuclear facilities. He holds a Doctor of Technical Sciences degree and is a professor. Born on March 29, 1933, in Baku, he graduated from two institutes: MVTU in 1956 as a mechanical engineer and MIFI in 1959 as a physical engineer. Dmitriev worked at the Physics and Energy Institute from 1956 to 1979, focusing on nuclear power installations and simulation of non-stationary processes in them. After the Chernobyl disaster, he developed a mathematical model of the accident.
