Semyon Mikhailovich Barmas (May 15, 1922 – September 19, 2008) was a Russian military scientist and expert in the operational art and tactics of the Strategic Missile Forces, focusing on troop survivability and combat readiness in modern warfare. He achieved the rank of Major General in 1962, obtained a Doctorate in Military Sciences in 1975, and became a professor in 1977. He authored over 200 scientific works, including 6 monographs and 5 textbooks, and was awarded several military honors. Barmas passed away in Moscow and was buried at Troekurovsky Cemetery.
