Valentin Mikolayovych Zolotaryov was a Ukrainian hydrobiologist and malacologist born on December 26, 1940, in Lokot, Russia. He specialized in marine bivalve mollusks and earned a Doctor of Biological Sciences degree in 1984. Zolotaryov worked at the Institute of Marine Biology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine from 1979 until 2020, previously part of the Odesa Branch of the Institute of Biology of Southern Seas until 2014. He passed away on April 1, 2024, in Odesa.
