Radislav Krstić, born on February 15, 1948, in Vlasenica, was a Bosnian Serb military leader, serving as Deputy Commander and then Chief of Staff of the Drina Corps of the Army of Republika Srpska from October 1994 until July 12, 1995. He was promoted to the rank of General in June 1995. In 1998, he was indicted for war crimes related to the Srebrenica genocide, where approximately 8000 Bosniak prisoners and civilians were killed. In 2001, he became the first individual found guilty of genocide by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia and was initially sentenced to 46 years in prison, later reduced to 35 years.
