Rainer Basedow was a German actor, voice actor, and cabaret artist, born on May 20, 1938, in Mühlhausen/Thüringen. He appeared in over 160 film and television productions starting in 1963, gaining fame for his role as a police officer in the comedy film 'Zur Sache, Schätzchen' alongside Uschi Glas. From 1997 onwards, he portrayed Kalle Schneidewind in the ZDF crime series 'Küstenwache' for many years. He is also remembered for voicing the warthog Pumbaa in 'The Lion King.' Basedow passed away on May 15, 2022, in Salzburg.
