Rashid Minhas was a Pakistani pilot officer in the Pakistan Air Force, awarded the Nishan-e-Haider for bravery. He was the youngest recipient of this honor and the only officer in the Pakistan Air Force to earn it. In August 1971, during a routine training mission, he attempted to regain control of a hijacked training aircraft from his instructor, who intended to defect to India. The plane crashed near Thatta, Sindh, resulting in both their deaths. Minhas is revered as a national hero in Pakistan, and various memorials are named in his honor.
