Rie van Veen, born Maria van Veen, was a Dutch swimmer from Rotterdam, active in the 1930s and 1940s. She achieved notable success at the 1938 European Championships, winning two silver medals and one bronze. Additionally, she set a world record in the 200 meters freestyle on February 26, 1938. Between 1938 and 1942, she won all national titles in both the 100 and 400 meters freestyle, further establishing her dominance in the sport. After marrying swimming coach Adrianus 'Arie' Thuis in 1943, she retired from competitive swimming.
